Record number of exhibitors at IE expo China

• Exhibitor participation rises by 11 percent to around 2,000 exhibitors

• Hot topics: ‘Environmental Measuring and Monitoring’ as well as ‘Recycling’

• Supporting program with future topics on the agenda

Following the successful IFAT Eurasia in Istanbul, the next IFAT trade fair held abroad is just around the corner: IE expo China 2019 will take place from April 15 to 17 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). The most thriving subsidiary trade fair of IFAT—the world-leading trade fair in Munich—is already looking at a new record: it is the first time that around 2,000 companies will exhibit.

The Exhibition Director IFAT Trade Fairs Abroad at Messe München, Katharina Schlegel is pleased with the growth figures: “The eleven-percent increase in the exhibitor number not only means that IE expo China is and remains the undisputed number one in Asia. The extraordinary demand also shows that more and more companies actively driving environmental and climate protection in Asia and want to help solve the current challenges with their technologies.” For example Andritz (China) Ltd, EISENMANN (SHANGHAI) CO., ENDRESS+HAUSER (CHINA) AUTOMATION CO. LTD, Suez NWS Ltd and Veolia that will be represented in the 13 exhibition halls (2018: 11) of IE expo China, spanning 150,000 square meters this year. Companies such as DLG Service GmbH, Fachverband Biogas, Getriebebau Nord GmbH & Co KG and REMONDIS will participate in the environmental technology trade fair for the water, waste, air and soil sectors for the first time.

The most significant gain has been observed for the “Environmental Measuring and Monitoring” exhibition sector. The novelty: an entire hall will be dedicated to solutions for measuring and monitoring pollutant emissions, water quality or soil contamination. Another growth driver is the waste and recycling sector, where IE expo China records an increase of seven percent in exhibitor numbers and provides additional exhibition space compared to the previous year. According to Katharina Schlegel, current government projects such as the “waste-free cities”, the import bans on various waste streams to China or the conversion of the waste sector to integrated low-carbon processes boost demand for solutions.

International attendance grows

The fair is also well positioned internationally and follows the example of the parent fair IFAT in Munich. Around 18 percent of its approximately 2,000 exhibitors come from outside China, from roughly 25 countries. The countries, regions and cities of Canada (Alberta), Denmark, France, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Shanghai, Austria, Switzerland, Taiwan and the USA will present themselves at joint booths. Germany will be even represented twice: in addition to the official German joint booth which is sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), the booth of the Federal Association of the German Waste, Water and Raw Materials Management Industry (BDE) will gather German providers of disposal and recycling technology. And the city of Shanghai will present itself with an own joint booth for the first time.

Supporting program provides important impulses

Visitors to IE expo China will not only be able to obtain information at the exhibitors’ booths and discuss trends in the Asian environmental sector. As many as eight parallel conferences will provide insights into current research results, technical developments and future challenges. This year, the China Environmental Technology Conference on the first day of the fair will be held under the banner “Innovation and Upgrading for Industrial Reconstruction”, showing companies solutions to minimize their pollutant emissions and water consumption. International best practices and bilateral cooperation will be introduced for example in the sessions “Modern German Energy Efficient Water and Wastewater Processes and Technologies”, “Sino-German-Cooperation on Waste to Energy”, “U.S Environmental Technology in China's Industrial Parks” or in the workshop “Canada-China Technology Partnership Seminar on Soil and Underground Water Remediation”. Most of the conferences are free of charge and are organized by the numerous partner associations of IE expo China. An overview is available online at http://www.ie-expo.com/conference.

Visitors can still register for IE expo China 2019 free of charge until April 10 at http://www.ie-expo.cn/visitors/register.html
