IE expo China continues to expand

  • • Two additional exhibition halls: E7 and N5
  • • 17 percent more space
  • • Around 2,000 exhibitors expected for next year

In four months, the Chinese commercial capital, Shanghai will again turn into the marketplace for environmental technologies: from April 15 to 17, 2019, IE expo China will take place at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC)—and for the fifth time in a row will increase its exhibition space.

It is the most successful subsidiary event of the world’s leading trade fair IFAT in Munich: IE expo China, Asia’s foremost environmental technology exhibition. And the event’s 2019 edition will be the next step on its continuing expansion path: for the first time, the organizers will open 13 halls (2018: 11) to the attendees as halls E7 and N5 will be added. Katharina Schlegel, Exhibition Director IFAT Trade Fairs Abroad at Messe München: “The technology providers’ interest in IE expo China grows constantly. Hence, we will expand the exhibition space to 150,000 square meters which equals an increase of 17 percent. We expect around 2,000 exhibiting companies.”

The demand, however, has not only grown among Chinese companies. Schlegel continues: “Also international enterprises increasingly wish to benefit from the economic power of the Asian environmental market and use IE expo China as stepping stone.” In 2018, almost a quarter (24 percent) of the exhibitors came from countries other than China. And for the coming year, many international key players—including Aerzen, Affilor, die Aqseptence Group, Endress & Hauser, Grundfos, Netzsch, Putzmeister, Watropur Sludge Dryer, Xylem and Wilo—already secured their participation. Official registration deadline for IE expo China 2019 is March 14; for joint booths the deadline is mid-January.

This year’s edition of IE expo China held in May left no doubt that it is the leading trade fair of the Asian environmental sector: 66,580 visitors from 59 countries represented an increase by 21 percent; 1,762 exhibitors from 26 countries a plus of 8 percent. The overall exhibition space was 128,000 square meters.

In view of the dynamics that the Chinese environmental market currently witnesses, just recently Messe München widened its IE expo network in China: from 2019—in addition to IE expo China and the South Chinese event IE expo Guangzhou in Guangzhou—it will also be present in the 15-million city of Chengdu. The new annual solution platform for the western region of China will for the first time take place from June 27 to 29, 2019 at the Western China International Expo City.
